"I’ve lost my heart to the buzz and atmosphere of the city.  Whenever I need a slower pace, I love going home to my family in Jylland, where I’m born and raised."

what does dating mean to you

what does dating

mean to you

I’ve been together with my boyfriend (now husband) for nine years, so dating to me means nurturing our relationship. We have a two-year-old, many friends and family relations that we highly care to prioritise and jobs that we are both passionate about – meaning that the line between work and life balance, is sometimes blurred.

It’s therefore not given that a moment for the two of us just happens out of the blue.

But that – as well – is something we do prioritise. To be able to have the kind of conversations and time reserved for just the two of us.

Do whatever you’re in the mood for – and don’t be afraid to change your plans if you’re into something else than originally intended.

This probably applies to dating new people, but it must be to split the bill.

And that doesn’t have to mean that it can’t be me who pays.

I have taken the bill several times to prevent and avoid any awkward decision-making-process that I didn’t want to be involved in. It may sound a bit old fashioned, but to me it’s so unromantic.

The ideas. And the fact that there are so many of them in all sorts of categories. I’m hopeless sometimes when it comes to figuring out what to do – and I can be so indecisive.

So it’s both helpful and fun to have a place you can turn to when the ideas are few, but the desire for a good date is at its peak.

I love doing cultural stuff in the city like going to the theatre, concerts and visiting galleries and museums.

My boyfriend, not too much – so these are turning into dates with by friends instead. What I also love about the city are the restaurants, and what a mekka Copenhagen has become. I love a simple dinner date, where you have the chance to dress up and just get a nice meal and drinks. It doesn’t have to be that complicated.

Something Rihanna, Robyn, Emma Sehested Høeg, Medina, J-Lo, Beyoncé – anything with a strong woman energy.

24h date itinerary for Copenhagen

24h date itinerary

for Copenhagen

We’d start our day with grabbing the first coffee (the best coffee of them all) at the just opened Sommersko in Palægade – our new neighbour.

Then we would walk to HART (the one at Holmen) – there’s no such thing as walking in the very heart of Copenhagen before it wakes up and gets super busy. It is simply another city.

Lunch at Salon in Bredgade. If the weather is good, we sit outside. It’s one of those places I love to be outside, even though it’s in front of a pretty busy road. It has a touch of Paris.

Next would be time for a small break before changing into a nice outfit. We would then hit a bar to start the evening. Esmée’s bar is great; it has the most tasting and well curated cocktails (even though I’d probably just order G&T’s), beautiful surroundings with a festive atmosphere.

For dinner, I’d pick something nice but not too formal. Tasty but not too complicated. Comfortable but not too heavy. Ambra, Bar Amore, Esmée, Mangia or Donda

We would end the evening with a nightcap (read: bottled beer) at Palæ Bar in Ny Adelgade. It has this perfect not-at-all-fancy atmosphere, and we once lived right above it, so it also has this nostalgia to it that I’m all here for. Sometimes you meet many familiar faces, other times none. That uncertainty is also quite nice.

I really just love my own bed. But if I had to choose another place to sleep in Copenhagen, I would go all-in with Hotel Sanders or D’Angleterre — anything that is just so extra, and different from your own home.
